How does chip tuning work?
1. Vehicle diagnostics
It is recommended that you have your vehicle serviced at regular intervals as recommended by the manufacturer. Regular servicing includes oil changes, brake checks, filters and fluids, which help prevent wear and tear and more serious breakdowns. Neglecting these basic tasks can lead to major engine damage and higher repair costs.
2. Test drive and vehicle inspection before modifications
Each vehicle must also be road tested and inspected for errors before changes are made to the engine computer control program.
3. Reading the original control program from the vehicle (engine computer)
The programmer reads the control program from the engine computer. This can take from 15 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the reading method and the type of vehicle. Most vehicles can be read and written without opening the engine computer (via the OBD-II diagnostic plug-in, which almost every vehicle has since 1996, or via the computer pins). In rare cases, it is necessary to read the transmission control unit as well.
4. Writing the modified control program to the vehicle (engine computer)
After the changes, the program needs to be written to the vehicle. This can take 15 minutes to 1 hour. The process is similar to reading, except in this case it is written.
5. Re-diagnosis of the vehicle before the test drive
Re-diagnosis and verification of engine parameters must be checked before the first test drive with a new program to rule out the possibility of program errors.
6. Test drive with modified control program and final diagnostics
